PostSubject: The Emperor's Will   Sun Mar 30, 2008 1:48 pm

When all recreational needs had been met and a useful vessel had been purchased, our wounded but hard-willed pilot managed to bring us to our destination without too many problems. While we were hailed by another vessel while on the way, it was no hindrance to us as they chose not to investigate.
Having reached the location and agreed to pay the necessary fees, we make use of public transport in order to reach our contact.
While ordering our meal after a short wait - though it seemed to be long enough to put a strain on the humans' collective patience - we were informed about new imperials laws on the planet concerning foreign workers. Apparently they have been arrested and, one would assume, eventually met a sad fate.
This concerned some more than others, but naturally everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When our meal was served, we were informed of a certain location of interest where we might better pursue our purpose. Once more suffering the rigours of public transport, we reached an abandoned building; ultimately we were forced to break in seeing as there was no other option. Our contact had us identify ourselves, though the process could have gone more smoothly had our usually foolhardy though, in the sole interest of self-preservation, inconveniently reluctant commanding officer been more willing to cooperate. We acquired what we came for, but had to make us of our contact's speeder in order to expedite our escape. Having seen my companions failing to take proper control of the craft after our contact was subject to death's toll, I was forced to take over. One manoeuvre was unfortunately too harsh for our weapons- and security expert, who fell overboard and just barely managed to hold on to the craft. This resulted in an unfortunate accident when I lost control of the vehicle and hit a public transportation craft. We managed to "shake off" our pursuer and after a hard crash landing, I had to perform a quick amputation of the victim's one leg which was torn beyond use. I was unable to restore his pulse, but at least I could limit the blood loss.

After a panicked take-off, we were pursued by imperial fighters and more dangerous types of machinery. However, after the activation of a distress beacon our Captain of the Far Orbit, in a heroic move of potential self-sacrifice, drew the attention of our enemies with a righteous speech of freedom and virtue.
Both we and the Far Orbit made a relatively successful escape.

Now came the time to act on the information we had gathered, which seemed similar to what we received at the space station. This report, however, was more elaborate and made it easier to facilitate an ambush. Unfortunately, when we were headed for our ambush site, an imperial cruiser was waiting for us, and our vessel took a severe beating before escaping into a nebula. With Thedan injured, our machinist became responsible for commanding the pilot crew, and I took over the navigation. The Far Orbit's severe condition, however made it impossible for our piloting crew to manoeuvre
outside the nebula.

It was in this moment that Felix, our most recent addition to the crew acted as though he had received a vision. With calculated purpose, he convinced the piloting crew that now was the time for him to take over. In a moment of true inner tranquillity, he had recalled a clever and complex technique with which our plight could be escaped. Moving as if at one with himself, operating the Far Orbit's direction all on his own, he miraculously brought us out of the dangerous zone and into open space while the entire crew were ecstatic with disbelief over his incredible achievement. It was a manoeuvre that would certainly enter the records of impressive navigational feats throughout the history of space endeavours.

Our second in command relocated me to navigation for the purpose of optimal hyperspace blockade emplacement. We had managed sufficient repairs to make us prepared for what was to come. We had tried to ask the Rebel Alliance for help though without luck.

The Emperor's Will arrived with its frigate escort, and the first moments of this battle were ours. The frigate was unprepared and took several hits before its shield was activated. As a result, this vessel was destroyed swiftly though it managed to cause some damage to the Far Orbit.
This left the mighty Galleon, which proved to be a tough adversary. Our vessel was near its end when our opponent deemed it safest to send their cargo away. Not seeing the necessity in further combat, we went in pursuit of the cargo, though we had one miss due to faulty calculations. Eventually we located and retrieved it, and apparently any traps that might have been aboard the safe were disarmed by a specialist.
The treasure contained in the cargo was impressive, and we were assured that we would receive a very respectable amount of money when the division of spoils would come to a conclusion.
Given the liberty to leave the vessel, we all agreed that now was the time to move on. And so we are to walk our own way, saying our farewells to the Far Orbit - a vessel that had brought us close to seemingly inevitable peril more than once... yet for some reason we made it out alive, and for that we are all grateful.

On a pleased note, our security specialist made an impressive recovery, only suffering minor brain damage, and he was given a fine replacement for his lost limb. Perhaps such a powerful experience will have taught him to be more humble.
